First color deception assignment, with critique examples

Color deception exercise 1

Color deception exercise 1

The first homework assignment is to create in color the same deception that you created in value in class: Make one color appear as two. Notice the criteria highlighted in yellow; these are the criteria that will be used to critique each piece at the beginning of class next week.

The critiques below of hypothetical student solutions may help you understand how the criteria will be used, and help you evaluate your own work, prior to bringing it in for class critique next week. (Click to view larger.)

Note: The title “Lesson 4” in these images may be confusing. This IS the same as “Lesson Color #1”, as in the assignment above. We are doing 3 deception exercises, first in value, in class, and then in color, for homework. Dick just changed his numbering scheme from 1-3 in value and 4-6 in color, to 1 in value, 1 in color; 2 in value, 2 in color; etc., and not everything got updated. Sorry for the inconsistency!
